History
1979: Foundation of the company, production initially begins with valves for longwall mining. The focus is on water hydraulics and underground explosion protection. Production takes place in rented premises in the Walkmühle between Kettwig and Heiligenhaus. Then as now, the young company attaches great importance to a high level of vertical integration and modern machinery.
1984: The company grows continuously and additional premises are quickly rented for production and design. The consistent use of innovative CAD technology and CNC machines secures the company’s position.
1989: These premises soon become too small for the company’s growth. A new building is constructed and the company moves to its current location in Heiligenhaus-Hetterscheidt. There, the modern CNC machines have 2,000 square metres of production space and the employees have 400 square metres of office space at their disposal.
1994: Due to the decline in mining in Germany, other business areas have to be developed at short notice. Due to the intense know-how in the field of explosion protection and the valve expertise, the business can be expanded in the direction of onshore/offshore.
2001: The steel industry comes into focus as a new business segment. In particular, valves that are used in steelworks for high-pressure descaling bring the company new international customers and further growth.
2004: The succession process in the company begins and the current Managing Director Dr. Holger Breit joins the company. The following years are dominated by the steel industry, deliveries to customers all over the world stand for further internationalisation. The number of employees reaches its current peak of 40.
2006 / 2011: The production area is expanded with two new workshops in order to be able to fulfil large orders in the usual quality.
2018: The founder and senior managing director Dr. Fritz Erich Breit retires from the business and places the company in the hands of the next generation.
2019: Dr. Breit GmbH celebrates its 40th anniversary.
